Zephyr Patterson began training with the Sensory Circus Tribe in Mackay when he was five years old. Over the next twelve years, he remained a dedicated member of the circus family, performing in a wide range of productions—from the annual Halloween show to corporate events. He also attended training programs at Spinfest and the National Training Program hosted by the Flying Fruit Fly Circus.
During this time, Zephyr participated in workshops with renowned contemporary circus companies including Circa, Infamous, Stardust, and Wander. He taught classes to students ranging from two-year-olds through to adults, and assisted in all‑ability classes, working with individuals of varying disabilities. Zephyr also travelled to nearby mining towns and local festivals to lead teaching workshops.
Continuing his training, Zephyr is now studying at the National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA). At NICA, he has worked with Tash York as an intern for her “Chaos Cabaret,” and performed in sold‑out student‑ensemble shows such as Fall With Me, directed by Katie Cawthorne, and Proteus, co‑directed by Sage Bachtler Cushman and Hugo Oliveira.
