NICA Students Hit the Road: An Interstate Industry Project

NICA Students Hit the Road: An Interstate Industry Project

Recently, our Third-Year students swapped the studio for the stage (and beyond!) with an interstate trip to Adelaide. Where they took part in the: Circus Studies Industry Project, in partnership with Gluttony and the Adelaide Fringe Festival.

An interstate trip to Adelaide Fringe Festival as part of your degree? Yes!

This unit is designed to immerse students in the professional world before they officially enter the industry. Final year Bachelor students gain relevant, real-world experience, dive into networking and of course, get a taste of show biz fun.

Each student undertakes an internship tailored to their individual interests, with placements spanning:

  • Stage Management
  • Social Media
  • Photography
  • Teaching
  • Performance

This year, our students brought their skills and enthusiasm to an incredible lineup of partners and productions, including:

London Calling, Dizney in Drag, Head First Acrobats, Gravity & Other Myths, Adelaide Fringe Street Performance Team, After Dark Theatre, Wildhouse Circus, Late Cut Media, Tash York’s Chaos Cabaret, Highwire Entertainment, Inferno, Gluttony.

We also had students take initiative to secure independent placements with APAC and Dreamstate

A massive thank you to all our wonderful participating organisations for opening their doors (and big tops) and welcoming our students!

From making industry connections to honing their craft in a real-world setting, our students return from Fringe inspired and empowered. Stepping back into classes with a fresh perspective, new skills, and plenty of excitement for their future careers!
