Marawa Ibrahim

Marawa was one of the earliest students to undertake a Bachelor of Circus Arts, joining NICA in only the second year the degree was offered, 2002. She grew up in Melbourne, began rollerskating at age two, and graduated from NICA in 2004 having specialised in trapeze.
Since then she has gone on to build a career out of hula hooping and tours the world as a performer. She has also created a successful brand running classes and selling hoops for adults, she even has a free app – iHoola.

Marawa has worked all over Europe, the UK and New York. She has toured with La Soiree (formerly La Clique) for 4 years, played Josephine Baker in New York and Paris, performed for Royalty and has been a semi finalist in both Australia and Britain’s Got Talent.

The National Institute of Circus Arts (NICA)

In 2011 she returned to Melbourne to perform her solo show, Exotica, as part of the inaugural NICA Melbourne Circus Festival. The show was described as a look at the influential exotic women of the 20th Century, focusing on the most exotic circus and cabaret artists, incorporating trapeze, rollerskating, skipping, magic, and having a watermelon sliced in half on her stomach! She also works with Sapana Circus School in Nepal, which teaches freed circus children most of whom are orphans.

She won 7 Guinness world records including most hoops by an individual, 200.

Currently based in the UK, Marawa performs and runs Hoola Schoola - a learn to hoop class for people looking for a fun way to exercise . You can watch performances on her youtube channel youtube.com/marawacup or check out her website: marawa.online.
