NICA trainer clowns around for a worthy cause

NICA aerials trainer Kathryn Niesche recently returned from five days in the Central Desert, touring remote Indigenous Warlpiri communities in the Northern Territory as a volunteer performer with a humanitarian clown troupe and World Vision.

The four clowns, Mouse (Kath), Miss Molly, PapaDave and Ping Pong (pictured) travelled 2371 kms through the Tanami Desert to perform and run workshops in the communities of Lajamanu, Yuendumu, Nyirrpi and Willowra.

Incorporated within the show were important health messages that the communities wished to be highlighted in a fun and entertaining way. The clowns also incorporated some key phrases in Warlpiri, much to the delight of the children.
