NICA hosts the first ever Melbourne Circus Festival

The Melbourne Circus Festival, celebrating NICA’s 10th Birthday, was a roaring success featuring circus events, nightly cabarets, comedy, magic shows, films, forums and workshops.

The Festival highlighted NICA ‘s achievements over 10 years, by inviting over 60 professional NICA alumni from throughout the world back to NICA to present their shows. The Festival generated a fantastic spirit of celebration between past and present students and staff, local residents and visitors to NICA.  Among the many highlights were the daily Circus Cabaret performances. A different guest compere hosted each evening and a wild variety of talent kept audiences enthralled.

NICA commissioned a new circus work designed for children of 5-8 years of age and their families, “Big Top for Little Tots”.  This was a sell out during the festival.
