Hannah Cryle

Based in Melbourne, Australia, Hannah spends most of her time traveling around the country and the world entertaining audiences of all shapes and sizes.

Her circus career began as a founding member of Brisbane’s Flipside Circus at the age of nine. She graduated from NICA with a Bachelor of Circus Arts degree in 2009. While at NICA she trained in a broad range of disciplines, including acrobatics, aerial skills, dance, drama, martial arts and music. Her specialties are German Wheel, Hula Hoops, Solo Static Trapeze and Duo Trapeze (Static and Swinging).

She was one of a handful of arts graduates to receive an ArtStart grant from the Australia Council in 2010. This financial support enabled her to travel to Europe to attend an intensive training camp in German Wheel to develop high-level skills that are rarely performed in circuses and that would help her stand out in the crowd.

In 2012, Hannah was awarded ‘Best Emerging Circus Performer’ at the Melbourne Fringe Festival.

2014 saw Hannah take her first independently created and produced production (Pants Down Circus ROCK) to the Edinburgh Fringe Festival where it received rave reviews and standing ovations.

In 2015 Pants Down Circus ROCK won Best Circus and Physical Theatre in the Adelaide Fringe weekly awards and completed a tour of Victoria supported by Regional Arts Victoria.

Hannah is a strong woman, acrobat, aerialist, base, clown, street performer and teacher.

Circus is her life. “I am constantly creating new work and pushing it out into the industry. It means I never feel like I’m stuck in a rut”, says Hannah.
